FACE et PROFIL (2006-2007)

Ces empreintes de mon visage, n’ont jamais été photographiés, ils sont la projection, sous l’agrandisseur, d’une sorte de « seconde peau » obtenue par le séchage d’une résine transparente dont je m’étais badigeonné le visage et attendu le séchage avant  » desquamation  » (voir la technique utilisée pour La MAIN et Les ASTEROÏDES). La réalisation de ces empreintes-masques, délicate et douloureuse au moment du  » démoulage « , était un test de faisabilité d’un tel processus et puis un défi à l’impossible mise à plat  d’un visage sur un plan.
Tel le célèbre masque d’or d’Agamemnon, me voici figé dans la platitude…

1 élément 120 x 100 cm. et 1 élément 100 x 100 cm. Empreintes via résine transparente. Epreuves au Chlorobromure d’argent et virage. Marouflés sur aluminium.

These masks of my face have never been photographed. They are just the enlargement of a sort of transparent second skin, obtained by peeling off the dry resin I applied to my own face (see La main and Les asteroïdes for the technique). The making of the masks was a delicate operation, and painful too when the resin had to be peeled off (I left a quantity of my eyebrows behind!) but it was a test of the feasibility of such a challenge and, most of all, an act of defiance in face of the impossibility of unfolding a convex surface out over a flat one.
Like the famous golden mask of Agamemnon, here I am frozen in platitudes…
