CEAAC 2008 . Installations optiques

In 2008 le CEEAC (European Centre for Contemporary Artistic Action)
based in Strasbourg invited me to present a major exhibition in its premises, leaving aside photography for a while and giving priority to original creations. Thus I imagined constructing three installations in the half-light, based on remanence, shadow and reflection.
The first was made of panels coated with phosphorescent paint which for a limited time preserved the silhouette projected by spectators passing in front of the flash of a light.
The second was the shadow, projected on a big opalescent screen, of a baby’s high-chair bearing Balinese puppets, which turned on it’s own axis.
The third, was entitled « La Cène » (« The Last Supper »). A pin-point halogen light placed under a « water table » supported by 13 seats, which projected on the ceiling and walls the shadow of the seats and of  the waves created by an oscillating system which rippled the water’s surface. At this « table » 13 transparent places were laid which participated in the festivities, their shadow being projected on the ceiling.
It’s not easy to explain in words, but the result was really spectacular.
